Petra is a PhD-qualified epidemiologist who has previously been involved in a diverse set of projects and programmes aimed at the detection, prevention and control of diseases. Her experience is in both academic and non-academic settings and includes disciplines such as risk research, veterinary public health and working within interdisciplinary and collaborative environments to solve complex animal and human health problems. She has previously held positions as Senior Advisor (Risk Assessment) at the New Zealand Food Safety Authority and as Senior Lecturer (Veterinary Epidemiology) at the EpiCentre, Massey University.
Petra applies her skills to a wide range of topics and has developed a particular interest in the molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases, interdisciplinary activities and the utilisation of information technologies to support learning, communication and information management. Along with her project-based activities, Petra has a strong passion for teaching from entry to advanced level and enjoys utilizing her experience from working and training both in Europe and New Zealand/Australia to support projects with an international or trade focus.

Dr. Uli Muellner BSc, PGD (Computer Sciences), PhD
– Senior Consultant in Information Technology -
Uli’s expertise combines detailed technical skills with an understanding of customer needs based on over ten years' experience in delivering online learning solutions to his clients. His academic background and work experience in education and computer science help him apply the latest research in the IT and learning sectors to the projects he is involved in.
Worthy of special mention is his PhD in media education and his experience in the fields of data management, data visualisation and commercial learning management systems. Uli is a skilled database programmer and his software portfolio includes SQL, T-SQL, DTSX as well as SAP Business Objects. He currently holds the position of Technical Lead at Inspire Group, New Zealand’s premium provider of customised learning solutions.

Dr. Eve Pleydell BVSc, BSc (Hons), PhD, MRCVS
– Consultant in Veterinary Public Health -
Eve is a British veterinary scientist with a passion for understanding microbial diseases that is borne from a synthesis of training in clinical veterinary medicine, zoology and ecology, microbiology, quantitative epidemiology and statistical analysis.
Her recent research has been in the field of veterinary public health, and she has particular expertise related to the investigation and interpretation of the complex dynamics of antibacterial-drug resistant bacteria in veterinary contexts. She also has a keen interest in zoonotic diseases that move across the wildlife-livestock-human interfaces, and she has previously been involved in investigating outbreaks of rabies and tuberculosis in populations of free-living wildlife in Africa.
Eve is a gifted writer and she enjoys disseminating science, both written and verbally, to scientists, government representatives, stakeholders and other interested parties. She understands that the highest quality science emerges when groups of people with diverse talents work together to address a question and she enjoys participating in such ventures. She also enjoys mining datasets and has developed particular skills in the production of exploratory and descriptive graphical representations of quantitative and molecular data.
Eve moved to New Zealand in 2006 to take up a lectureship post in clinical microbiology and veterinary public health and to complete her PhD in the field of antibacterial-drug resistance.
